Our group was officially created in 1994 in the Departamento de Tecnología Electrónica (Department of Electronic Technology) of the University of Málaga (Spain) . That year, some members of the group gathered their previous work to apply for a research CICYT project (TIC95-0589) funded by the spanish government. Many of these members were already active in cognitive systems and artificial intelligence. Hence, the approval of the project turned out to be a definitive impulse to apply such knowledge in the field of robotics and artificial vision. Since then, the group has been working on those subjects, funded either by the government or by private firms.
